How and why did you start doing hair?

I was living in Chapel Hill and had, what I refer to as, a quarterly life crisis. I was looking for something that I could truly enjoy waking up to everyday and would allow me flexibility, as music was a central part of my life at the time. I found the idea of being a stylist utterly romantic. A livelihood that is creative, easy to move around with and necessitates personal interaction. As it permits movement and space in other facets of my life, which is vastly appreciated, I have found an unbroken and ever-changing growth within this work which can be a difficult thing to come by. The unique relationship with clients this craft encourages has become one of my favorite aspects of what I do.

If you could do hair for any famous person, living or dead, whom would it be?

Yoko Ono

Who is your personal style icon?

David Bowie, the love of my life, and Tilda Swinton who is also the love of my life. They are basically one in the same because they both sprouted from the same alien space tree. Of course Helena Bonham Carter for my goth side.

If you could go back in time and live in any time period, in which period would you choose to live?

The Seventies for sure. London or Berlin. Probably both.

If you were an alcoholic beverage, what would you be?

French 75

If you could bring one album with you to a desert island, which would you bring?

The Velvet Underground & Nico or Pornography- The Cure. I might have to close my eyes and point to one at random (and of course a small mix tape of various Bowie songs I would sneak in my pocket)
